On purpose living

The antidote to happenstance living

Hello my friends, welcome to Chapter 47 of Sanguine Stories. This month we’re exploring Sanguine Element #9, how to live with purpose and vision.

Why do we need a purpose in life?

Why do we need to live on purpose?

What does it mean to live your life on purpose, with purpose?

Living on purpose means knowing what your story is and mindfully choosing how it unfolds. Even amongst the twists and turns, mishaps and missteps, your purpose is what keeps you on the path, pursuing your true north.

Living with purpose implies knowing you who are and being responsible for your decisions, knowing that your everyday actions are intentionally leading you to where you want to be, and who you want to be.

Why is having a life purpose so important?

A purpose lays down the whole context of your life.

Without a precisely defined reason, you could end up just flitting from one thing to the next, always thinking there is something “better” on the horizon.

Though you can be occupied with hundreds of tasks each day, when you lack a clear purpose, you might be heading down the wrong path.

A purpose gives you roots in which to grow and thrive.

Living on purpose gives your life meaning.

It is the message you make happen and share with others during your time on Earth.

Having a purpose in life applies to all of us.

It’s the principles, ideas and actions we take to live with meaning, to live fully, to live well.

What happens when you start living on purpose?

You become more mindful. You make decisions based on mindful awareness of how they will impact you and others. You are mindful of what you think, you choose your words with intention and consciously decide what actions you will take.

Life isn’t lived haphazardly but rather on purpose, with focus and meaning.

Living on purpose means you no longer struggle with who you are, where you want to be, what you want to be doing.

You no longer stress over the little things and are able to instead focus on what really matters.

You’re confident in your choices, less likely to doubt yourself and while you’re always learning and growing, you know that happiness comes from within, not from the next big thing.

The life lessons you experience – they help you rather than hinder you. You are actively moving forward, achieving your goals and incorporating what you’ve learned from the missteps along the way.

Purposeful living helps you feel clear, authentic and fully alive. It helps you live more in the “flow”, in which time seems to vanish, and you feel fulfilled and content with all that you’re doing and who you are showing up as.

How does living a purposeful life benefit you?

With no clear purpose, you have no basis on which you make choices, use and share your resources and allocate your time.

Living with purpose means that rather than letting others make decisions for you, which can cause unease, stress and more conflict, you are the one choosing what next steps to take in life.

It can also help you become more focused. You contemplate your life and the actions you take based on what is essential ad needed to continue on your path.

With a clear sense of purpose, you also are able to set boundaries and saying “no” becomes so much easier.

With purpose, you know that every step you take is created mindfully and with intention towards a larger goal. A goal that you are committed to. Essentially, your destiny. What you will be remembered for.

You live with more passion

Living on purpose gives you more passion in life. To show up more fully and freely as you know who you are, what you want to do, and where you’re going. I can’t say that enough.

When combined with other sanguine elements, you are excited about what is coming in your life and ready to manage any challenges that arise.

You are open to new opportunities and often times, more opportunities arise because of this sense of clarity and focus that you have created.

You will meet others who are also living on purpose and with passion. Living in the moment, making the most out of life.

A purposeful life supports you in living a good life. A sanguine life. It helps you feel more alive in your everyday activities. It helps you connect with others, improving the lives of many, along the way – in your family, circle of friends, community and out into the world.

Share the love…

Next week, we’ll explore how to find your life purpose – your true north.

But for now, just ask yourself these 3 questions:

Do I really know who I am?

Do I know what I want to do (and am I actively taking steps to do it)?

Do I know where I’m going, where I want to be?

No judgment, no stress. Just take some time to reflect on the answers and determine where you are, right now.
